Rosary before Mass – will continue to be recited in the Parish, Saturday evenings/Sunday mornings and weekdays. It is a good preparation for Mass followed by quietness before Mass begins. We can include in the intentions during the Rosary Pope Francis’ intentions as well as our own. He is very concerned about the world, not just the environment but peace between peoples and nations. Parishioners may like to come a little earlier to Mass to join in this prayer.

The Our Father – “And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.” : Pope Francis’ has proposed a change to these words. Pope Francis has said: “it is not a good translation because it speaks of a God who induces temptation. I am the one who falls. It’s not Him pushing me into temptation to then see how I have fallen. A father doesn’t do that, a father helps you to get up immediately. It’s Satan who leads us into temptation, that’s his department.” Bishop Francis Duffy, Bishop of Ardagh & Clonmacnois and Chairperson of the Council for Liturgy of the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference has issued the following statement: In consultation with bishops from other English-speaking countries, the Irish Catholic Bishops’ Conference will give close attention to the reported change to the Lord’s Prayer. The bishops will look at the implications for both the Irish and English translations of this much loved and universal prayer.
