Sacrament of Confirmation: congratulations to the 34 young people who were Confirmed by Bishop Michael Router last
Sunday. It was a lovely celebration, and everyone played their part so well. Thanks especially to the Choir – the Bishop was
impressed – and to Emily for the flowers. Thanks, as usual to Agatha, the servers, Ministers of the Eucharistic, stewards and
collectors. And to God for the sunshine amidst all the adverse weather.
Sacrament of Marriage: congratulations to Aidan McCrory and Grace Harte who were married recently.
Lately deceased: Brian Kelly, Teresa Donnelly, Niall Quinn, Baby Cahir Tierney, Patsy Mullin, Francie Kerr
Season of Lent: the liturgy is marked by no Gloria or Alleluia; no flowers in the sanctuary; purple/violet vestments – all this
emphasises the penitential character of Lent. How will Lent be marked in your life – is there something that needs changed or
transformed? Morals, values, Catholicity, spirituality – operation transformation?!
The Mystery of Faith – ‘Save us, Saviour of the world, for by your Cross and Resurrection you have set us free.’
COVID 19 – Coronavirus Archbishop Eamon Martin writes: Following the most up to date advice from public health authorities
– North and South – I ask you to implement the following important guidance immediately:
People who feel unwell with symptoms of COVID-19 (e.g. cough, shortness of breath, difficulty breathing, high temperature)
should not attend religious services but should stay at home and follow the advice of their GP and public health
authorities. Parishioners should be reminded that they are dispensed from their Sunday obligation to attend Mass if they are
unwell. The Sign of Peace should be suspended at this time. Similarly, the practice of shaking hands on greeting and departure
at religious services/ gatherings should be suspended for both clergy and laity. Holy Water fonts should not be used at this time.
Only the celebrant should drink from the Chalice. Holy Communion should be administered into the hands only and NOT onto
the tongue Everyone administering Holy Communion should wash their hands or use alcohol-based hand gel before beginning.
