Masks -although not now compulsory to be worn inside Churches, masks should be worn when attending Mass. Please observe social distancing while in the Churches. Those receiving Holy Communion can only do so on the hand – as has been the norm since March 2020. In coming to receive please respect social distancing in the procession to the sanctuary. Those attending are asked to bring a wipe with them to clean down the place where they were praying. Like our homes, it is important to keep our Churches clean and hygienic. After Mass, when outside the Church, please once again respect social distancing. Attending any of the weekday Masses fulfils the Sunday obligation which has been suspended for the foreseeable future so please plan which Mass suits you or your family.

Sacrament of Baptism: we welcome into the Errigal Ciaran faith community Danny Patrick McGarvey
who was Baptised recently.
Blessing of the Graves/Altar Glen: I was delighted that we could gather for the Blessing of the Graves this year – Dunmoyle, Garvaghey, Ballymacilroy, Old Errigal – three good days weatherwise and one very wet day –
that’s life. And also, that we could gather for Mass at the Altar Glen – another good day with weather – thank you, God. These traditions and expressions of our faith are important and as long as we adhered to the restrictions placed on by the pandemic we could and did gather safely. Thanks to all who helped organise and took part in the liturgies.
Sacrament of Marriage: congratulations to Emma Ward and Gavin McGreevey;
Sarah Mullin and Niall Holland; Niamh Kelly and Shane O’Neill, Jeff Mulgrew and Louise Beirne;

Presentation from Walk in memory of Nuala McLaughlin. Members of the family of the late Nuala McLaughlin presented recently the proceeds from the walk which took place in early July and which was held in Nuala’s memory. Her family wish to thank all who took part in the walk, all who gave donations and helped sponsor the event and all who offered support or help in any way. They also thank all who walked in memory of Nuala in many other places throughout the country and beyond on the day. A cheque for £27,000 was presented to representatives from the Intensive Care Unit in the SWAH, Enniskillen where Nuala was cared for during the last weeks of her life and a cheque for £27,000 was also presented to representatives from Child Support Services which was a cause that was close to Nuala’s heart.
A note from Fr Leo Traynor: At last! It’s been a long wait between covid issues and getting a work permit for Malawi. But at last, I’m on my way. It’s been good to see those I did while at home. There was frustration in the early days being home but unable to call freely on people as would have been my custom. As I go to this new mission assignment, I ask that you keep me in your prayers. My thanks to so so many that have donated to help me get set up in Mzuzu Malawi. You will hear of our efforts as time goes by. Years, as we all know, will fly by and in no time 2024 will come round and I’ll be back for an Irish summer. Meanwhile, lets live each day we are given and be kind to each other and all whom we meet. Bye for now. Fr Leo.

Liturgy celebrates the Paschal Mystery – Part Two of the Catechism, containing two sections, deals with the liturgy of the Church. Section One presents the basic teachings about liturgy. Section Two presents the Seven Sacraments. The word liturgy comes from a Greek term meaning ‘public work or work done on behalf of the people’. Liturgy always referred to an organised community. A work then, done by an individual or a group was a liturgy on behalf of the larger community. All the worshippers are expected to participate actively in each liturgy, for this is holy ‘work’, not entertainment or a spectator event. Every liturgical celebration is an action of
Christ the High Priest and of his Mystical Body, which is the Church. It therefore requires the participation of the People of God in the work of God. Liturgy is centred on the Holy Trinity. At every liturgy the action of worship is directed to the Father, from whom all blessings come, through the Son in the unity of the Holy Spirit. We praise the Father who first called us to be his people by sending us his Son as our Redeemer and giving us the Holy Spirit so that we can continue to gather, to remember what God has done for us and to share in the blessings of
