Masks -although not now compulsory to be worn inside Churches, masks should be worn when attending Mass. Please observe social distancing inside and outside the Churches. Those receiving Holy Communion can only do so on the hand – as has been the norm since March 2020. Like our homes, it is important to keep our Churches clean and hygienic. Attending any of the weekday Masses fulfils the Sunday obligation which has been suspended for the foreseeable future so please plan which Mass suits you or your family.

November – remembering our dead.

1. We usually celebrate Mass for all those who have died during the past year. Wednesday 3rd at 7pm in St Mary’s Church remembering Neil McGarvey, Mickey Mulgrew, Peter Nugent, Lawrence McGirr, Bridie O’Sullivan, Mickey McCann, Cissie Mullin, Kevin McMenamin, Peter McCrory.

Thursday 25th at 7pm in St Malachy’s Church remembering Eleanor Gallagher, Nuala McLaughlin, Margaret Lewis, Baby Rory Quinn, Seamus McGirr, Bridie McClenaghan, Seamus Murray.

Year of St Joseph as proclaimed by Pope Francis: Parishioners are invited to attend Mass over the weekends to reflect on St Joseph: 16th/17th October – St Joseph, the dreamer, an example for everyone and especially our young whom Jesus teaches never to lose the ability to dream, to take risks and to take on difficult tasks. All who have dreams are invited to attend Masses and especially young people and expectant mothers and fathers who have dreams for their child and their children. 23rd/24th October – St Joseph, a worker and the patron of all craftspeople and workers. He laboured for God and we too are called to labour in love. All who work with their hands are invited to attend Masses for a special blessing of our hands.

Pope Francis’ Prayer for the Year of St Joseph Hail, Guardian of the Redeemer, Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary. To you God entrusted his only Son; in you Mary placed her trust; with you Christ became man. Blessed Joseph, to us too, show yourself a father and guide us in the path of life. Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage, and defend us from every evil. Amen.

Synod – letter from Archbishop Martin – Let’s journey together – is available e in Churches.

Prayer of the Synod

We stand before You, Holy Spirit, as we gather together in Your name.

With You alone to guide us, make Yourself at home in our hearts;

Teach us the way we must go and how we are to pursue it.

We are weak and sinful; do not let us promote disorder.

Do not let ignorance lead us down the wrong path nor partiality influence our actions.

Let us find in You our unity so that we may journey together to eternal life

and not stray from the way of truth and what is right.

All this we ask of You, who are at work in every place and time,

in the communion of the Father and the Son, forever and ever. Amen.
